MATT BOWEN

Former North Queensland Cowboys, Queensland Maroons and Australian Kangaroos rugby league star Matt Bowen has joined JobTrail as an Ambassador for our new Indigenous Trainees in Weipa. We have recently employed a number of Weipa locals as Dump Truck Operators and Matt has come on board to help support and drive the engagement of the trainees.

Matt played 270 NRL games for the Cowboys, the majority of those at fullback where his instinctive play and electrifying speed had crowds
on the edge of their seat. He was born in Cairns but grew up in the Cape York Aboriginal community of Hopevale. He started playing Rugby League at school and attended Abergowie College near Ingham.

Matt currently works for the Cowboys as a Community Engagement Officer and has worked throughout North Queensland on their Try for 5! Program. The program is an intra-school challenge, designed to address short and long term impacts of students missing foundation learning in their primary years through poor school attendance.
